Q: Who's going to be there? A: In Rio, probably everybody! Indeed, Rio is no stranger to large crowds. Carnaval festivities annually draw 10 million people, although organizers admit that crowds are so large that getting exact figures is next to impossible. Maracanã Stadium, in Zona Norte, is the world's second largest stadium and, in its heyday, held in excess of 200,000 rowdy futebol fans (attendance has been trimmed recently due to repairs). Even the rock band KISS has gotten into the act, so to speak, drawing approximately 250,000 for a three-day concert at Maracanã in 1983, a figure that shattered the Beatles' former record.
